The National Mental Health Service requires an IT solution that facilitates the delivery of care to Veterans at high risk for suicide. The IT solution shall enhance the Category 1 Patient Record Flag feature to include improved reporting that allows for the ability to review flags based on the applicable timeframe, current status, and manage flag ownership when the Veteran is receiving treatment at more than one facility. The IT solution shall enable prescribing providers to dispense medications more frequently and in smaller quantities. Additionally, the IT solution will modify the copays associated with more frequent contact with mental health providers and the increased costs associated with dispensing medications in smaller amounts, so that these additional costs are not passed to these Veterans.

DG*5.3*952 implements a new primary eligibility code, EXPANDED MH CARE NON VETERANS. It is used to identify and track the "other than honorably discharged" service members for emergency mental health services in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).This patch implements the new Application Programming Interface that provides the "EXPANDED 90 DAY MENTAL HEALTH" eligibility information to the Mental Health application.

Patch DG*5.3*977 implements EXPANDED MH CARE NONVETERANS as a primary eligibility code and a MAS eligibility code in VistA Registration to identify and support nonveterans that need emergent mental healthcare services.
