In order f or the var ious VistA locales t o be able to effecti vely reque st eligibi lity infor mation for the vario us payers, a nationa l VA insur ance payer list has been estab lished to provide a standard i dentificat ion system for all p ayers that are parti cipating i n this pro cess. Enh ancements have been added to a llow each VA site th e ability to link th e insuranc e companie s in their own site’ s list to the approp riate paye r in the n ational pa yer list. This stan dardizes t he identif ication of the payer to which each inqui ry should be directe d.
