  23   The Nation al Council  for Presc ription Dr ug Program s (NCPDP)  publishes  updates to  the Exter nal Code L ists (ECLs ) on a qua rterly bas is.  The a nnual ECL  implementa tion sched ule incorp orates up  to four (4 ) ECL publ ications e ach year.   The new a nnual ECL  implementa tions beco me effecti ve each Oc tober.  NC PDP may pu blish emer gency ECL  updates wh ich are re quired to  be impleme nted any d ate prior  to the sch eduled ann ual implem entation d ate, but m ust be at  least 180  days from  the public ation date .

  40   Because bo th the rej ect code a nd reject  descriptio n are iden tifier fie lds in fil e 9002313. 93, reject  descripti on updates  for exist ing codes  must be pe rformed in  the BPS p atch Pre-I nstallatio n routine  ^BPS21PRE.   This is  done in th e pre-inst all routin e so dupli cate entri es will no t be creat ed by KIDS  when the  data file  is added t o the syst em.
  41   The new re ject codes  will be a dded to Fi le 9002313 .93 (BPS N CPDP REJEC T CODES) a nd the new  submissio n clarific ation code s will be  added to F ile 900231 3.25 (BPS  NCPDP CLAR IFICATION  CODES) in  our develo pment envi ronment. W hen the KI DS build i s created,  the data  in these f iles will  be include d as part  of the bui ld, and wh en the KID S Build is  installed  at each s ite. The n ew reject  and clarif ication co des will b e automati cally be a dded to Fi les 900231 3.93 and 9 002313.25.
