  52   The Comput erized Pat ient Recor d System ( CPRS) Grap hical User  Interface  
  53   (GUI) v31. b is an en hancement  release wi th the fol lowing mod ifications :

  55   1) System  for Mammog raphy Resu lts Tracki ng (SMART) , NSR 2010 0701
  56   SMART enha nces the a bility to  track and  manage mam mography r esults. SM ART
  57   creates th e ability  to link a  result not ification  directly t o a
  58   documentat ion templa te. These  templates  are specif ic to the  Breast 
  59   Imaging Re porting an d Data Sys tem (BIRAD ) code, an d contain  typical ne xt
  60   steps in m anagement,  links to  orders, an d ability  to documen t how and
  61   when a pat ient was n otified of  their res ult. The t emplate al lows users  to
  62   view the p atient's l ast three  breast ima ges, regar dless of t he orderin g
  63   provider;  and to vie w all data  captured  in CPRS/Vi stA relate d to the
  64   patient's  breast car e beginnin g with whe n the resu lt was ent ered into
  65   VistA. Onc e implemen ted SMART,  data from  the SMART  templates  will popu late
  66   the Breast  Care Regi stry, enha ncing the  registry.

  68   2) Women's  Health Po tentially  Unsafe Med ications,  NSR 200712 18/2013051 1
  69   The curren t version  of the VHA 's Veteran s Health I nformation  Systems a nd 
  70   Technology  Architect ure (VistA ) and CPRS  software  does not p rovide any  
  71   informatio n to the p rovider th at a parti cular medi cation is  teratogeni c.
  72   Teratogens  are drugs  (includin g medicati ons), chem icals, or  other 
  73   exposures,  like radi ation, tha t can inte rfere with  normal em bryonic/fe tal
  74   developmen t and thus , may lead  to birth  defects or  pregnancy  loss. In 
  75   addition,  there is a  group of  medication s that pos e a potent ial risk t o
  76   breastfed  infants.  
  77    
  78   The reques ted enhanc ements wil l provide  a notifica tion or al ert to pre vent
  79   inadverten t prescrib ing of ter atogenic m edications  to patien ts who are
  80   pregnant o r at risk  for pregna ncy and in advertent  prescribin g of 
  81   medication s of poten tial risk  to breastf ed infants  for patie nts who ar e 
  82   lactating.   The noti fication o r alert wi ll prompt  the provid er to cons ider
  83   whether to  initiate  or continu e a medica tion for a  patient w ho is preg nant
  84   or lactati ng and wil l provide  an opportu nity for c ounseling  and 
  85   considerat ion of app ropriate t herapeutic  alternati ves for fe male patie nts 
  86   who are pr egnant, la ctating, o r of child bearing po tential.

  88   3) The pat ch introdu ces new co mponents a nd modific ations to  support th e
  89   Other Than  Honorable  (OTH) fun ctionality  for the S uicide Hig h Risk Pat ient
  90   Enhancemen ts (SHRPE)  project ( NSR 201704 03): 
  91     a) The n ew "OROTHC L GET" Rem ote Proced ure Call ( RPC) is us ed to disp lay
  92     the OTH  status for  the patie nt on the  CPRS GUI s creen
  93     b) The n ew OROTHCL  M-routine  supports  the "OROTH CL GET" RP C,
  94     c) The n ew "OROTHC L GET RPC"  is being  added to t he "OR CPR S GUI CHAR T"
  95     option t hat mainta ins the re gistration  of the RP Cs used by  CPRS.

  97   Note: The  OROTHCL co de will ch eck for th e installa tion of pa tch 
  98   DG*5.3*952 . If this  patch is n ot install ed, CPRS w ill not di splay the  OTH
  99   button/sta tus. This  approach e liminates  a hard dep endency on  patch 952  and
  100   allows CPR S GUI v31b  to releas e independ ently of t hat patch.

  102   4) This ve rsion of C PRS introd uces chang es to Cons ult/Reques t Tracking
  103   and TIU in  support o f the inte rface with  the Healt hcare Clai ms Process ing
  104   System (HC PS), Refer ral and Au thorizatio n System ( RAS) in th e Austin
  105   Financial  Services C enter (FSC ).

  107   In Consult s, a MailM an error m essage is  generated  when there  is a
  108   communicat ion issue  between RA S and Vist A. This me ssage has  been impro ved
  109   to include  the HCPS  support ma il group a s a recipi ent. In ad dition, th e
  110   message bo dy will no w include  the consul t number a nd facilit y name fro m
  111   where the  consult or iginated.  These new  elements w ill assist  HCPS supp ort
  112   with more  rapid reso lution of  communicat ion errors . Referenc e the
  113   Consult/Re quest Trac king patch  GMRC*3.0* 88 for the  technical  details o f
  114   these enha ncements.

  116   For TIU, t he ability  to lock a  TIU Templ ate and th e associat ed templat e 
  117   fields fro m edit has  been intr oduced. A  System-lev el paramet er has bee n 
  118   added that  will faci litate the  locking.  This enhan cement ste ms from th e 
  119   RAS/VistA  interface  mentioned  above. Edi ting certa in fields  in a templ ate 
  120   used by th e RAS/Vist A interfac e can crea te a commu nication e rror in th e 
  121   interface.  These tem plates sho uld not be  edited by  facilitie s and as s uch 
  122   will be lo cked durin g the inst allation o f CPRS GUI  v31b. Ref erence the

  125   5) Dieteti cs, NSR 20 080323
  126   The dietet ics orderi ng functio nality has  been modi fied in or der to 
  127   prevent pr evious act ive diet o rders repl acing NPO  orders upo n expirati on, 
  128   DC, or can cellation.  The follo wing chang es have be en made:

  130    a) The NP O orderabl e item wil l be added  to the Au to-DC Rule s when the  
  131    patch is  installed.  With this  change, t he auto-DC  rules wil l prevent  the 
  132    discontin uation of  the Nothin g Permitte d Orally ( NPO) diet  orders for  the
  133    following  event typ es:
  134     Specialt y transfer  (S)
  135     OR (O)
  136     Transfer  (T)
  137    and the N PO diet re mains inta ct

  139    b) When N PO diet or ders are a ttempted t o be manua lly discon tinued,

  170   alerts tha t are long er than th e standard  character  count tha t the aler t 
  171   display pr ovides. Lo ng Text In formationa l Alerts w ill displa y in a pop  
  172   up window  when proce ssed and p rovide add itional ac tions for  the user t o 
  173   take based  on that a lert.

  175   7) Order C heck Histo ry, NSR 20 140806
  176   This reque st updates  the mecha nism by wh ich order  checks are  captured  and 
  177   stored, en suring the re is alwa ys a histo ry of the  event. Sto ring the 
  178   order chec k history  will permi t data ana lysis of h ow many or der checks  
  179   are overri dden and h ow many re sulted in  a change t o the init ial 
  180   provider's  order. Sp ecifically , the chan ges in thi s release  will captu re 
  181   order chec k informat ion that w as previou sly not ca ptured suc h as when  an 
  182   order entr y is aband oned after  the user  is present ed with th e order 
  183   checks, an d also whe n an order  is change d and new  order chec ks are
  184   performed.

  187   The functi onality wi ll allow C PRS to cap ture (Copy /Paste) te xts in the  
  188   Text Integ ration Uti lity (TIU)  notes. Th e service  will log e ach instan ce 
  189   of pasted  text with  copy where  originate d and when  (date/tim e) the pas te 
  190   actions oc curred.  h e data cap tured for  each Copy/ Paste acti on can be 
  191   provided f or chart a nd policy  reviews. T hus, creat ing an aud it trail o f 
  192   paste acti ons perfor med on eac h new docu ment where  Copy/Past e action 
  193   occurs. It  will also  provide r eports to  summarize  logged con tent that 
  194   tracks Cop y/Paste ev ents. Copy /Paste act ions withi n the same  active 
  195   document w ould not b e logged a s it is as sumed that  the user  is 
  196   reformatti ng the doc ument for  clarity. C aptured Co py/Paste d ata will b e 
  197   stored for  a few mon ths allowi ng it to b e used for  reporting /viewing. 
  198   Functional ity was de signed wit h total fl exibility  in mind by  providing  
  199   the abilit y to tweak  parameter s, add or  include/ex clude note  titles, 
  200   classes or  even disa ble Copy/P aste track ing (packa ge level),  therefore  
  201   giving cli nicians an d system a dministrat ors total  flexibilit y to best
  202   suit their  need.

  205   PX*1*210 i mplemented  a change  such that  the SHORT  NAME field  of an
  206   immunizati on is no l onger popu lated. The  Immunizat ion panel  of the
  207   Cover Shee t will now  display t he NAME fi eld of an  immunizati on. If the
  208   size of th e CPRS dis play preve nts the fu ll NAME fr om showing , the full
  209   NAME will  be visible  via by ho vering the  mouse ove r the trun cated name .
