3226/3278 - Inpatient medication order disappeared from the BCMA Virtual
 Due List

Defect Tracking System Ticket(s) & Overview
 --------------------------------------------
 1. I9134388FY16: Med Error - No Warning to Provider when CHANGING
                  Inpatient Med Error
    R9908620FY16: Patient Safety Issue

 Problem:
 --------
The provider changed the encounter location while working on the chart
 for an admitted patient.

The location selected was set up in Scheduling to allow the
 administration of inpatient medications.

The provider then selected and Inpatient Medication order and chose the
'Change' action. When the edit of the order was completed, the order was
left in the Unit Dose Medications display group, but sent to Pharmacy as
a Clinic Medications order. This meant the order disappeared from the
Inpatient view of the BCMA Virtual Due List.

 Resolution:
 ----------
The interim solution will be to add a hard stop on the change action so
that if the location is set to a clinic location, the provider will not
be allowed to edit an Inpatient Medication or Infusion order.

The long-term solution will be determined by a workgroup.
