This mobile medical application will be utilized by nurses and technicians who have Unit Prevention Leaders (UPLs) (safe patient handling techniques) for competencies. The app shall incorporate all the UPL information with guides to equipment, videos for training, and checklists. The application shall have a mobile capability from a handheld device to utilize Safe Patient Handling (SPH) information. The app shall display appropriate and corresponding SPH information taken directly from SPH algorithms that are critical to provide the safest patient care. The app shall list the equipment by category (interactive), access to algorithms is based upon that selected category, and access the technology links and video presentations associated that show how best to provide Safe Patient Handling at the bedside. Technical data and equipment specifications shall also be provided.

This information-only or read-only application shall deliver appropriate safety information to the nursing and care giver staff on how to deliver the appropriate handling techniques and care when providing Safe Patient Handling facility-wide. This app shall be a tool each caregiver can use at the patient bedside. The capabilities shall provide a real time answer and/or technique based upon a series of inputs from the care giver regarding the patient’s mobility situation. Through a series of backend algorithms, information shall be displayed with appropriate links to helpful information based upon a series of initial categorical responses (care giver input based upon Safe Patient Handling categories).
