The Clinical Ancillary Services (CAS) program supports initiatives that resolve reported patient safety issues (PSI), enhance key Pharmacy systems, and provide functional maintenance updates as directed. The Clinical Ancillary Services (CAS) Development-Delivery of Pharmacy Enhancements (DDPE) fits into existing CAS program and outlined in Contract VA118-11-D-1014/Task Order VA118-1014-0029 awarded on September 18th 2014. Pharmacy Interface Automation is a vital enhancement to the medication transaction functions of the PADE. It will allow pharmacists to access dispensing equipment remotely; keep a perpetual inventory of all medication received, dispensed, and wasted; alert the pharmacy of medication removed from the devices without orders; and establishes monitors for potentially inappropriate electronic pharmacy transactions.
