The RAMS project includes the design and development of a single front-end web-based data management and reporting application and a centralized back-end database system to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administrations (VHA) field Research & Development (R&D) offices and VA Central Office (VACO) Office of Research & Development (ORD).

RAMS is intended to serve as a multipurpose tool for VACO ORD and VA Medical Center (VAMC) field research offices. It is scoped to provide the capability to create and track administrative data for each project assigned to the local research office, manage research oversight committees and subcommittees, track research personnel assignments, training requirements and certifications, manage laboratory data including space allocations and equipment, and support required reporting to ORD for VHA’s intramural research projects.
RAMS is part of Major Initiative (MI) #13 and directly supports Strategic Goal 4: Assure a state-of-the-art research enterprise with a culture of professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and concern for all patients’ safety and privacy of ORD’s Strategic Plan
