Submitted by OIT EPMO EPMD ACOE Tools Operations Open Source Service on 04-21-2014.
This project will increase the number of ICD diagnosis and procedure codes in VistA applications that provide outputs into the Patient Treatment File; the project will also implement respective expansion of screen displays, arrays, files, data stores and reports to accommodate additional fields and new input templates of ICD-10 as they relate to the Patient Treatment File transactions.
The expanded ICD-10 code set implemented in the Patient Treatment File and downstream clinical informatics will allow for better health care delivery to Veterans through standardization of their health care data for diagnoses and treatments--allowing VA to provide more appropriate care of specific conditions. With this project's success, Veterans will also benefit from a reduction in the number of claims that are rejected or improperly reimbursed due to clinical coding inefficiencies.
The purpose of the Requirements Specification Document (RSD) is to outline the functional requirements for the ICD-10 Analysis and Design project for the VistA Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) package. The intended audiences for this document are the Project Manager, Developers, SQA Analysts, Technical Writers, Business Owners and Stakeholders.
