In August 2012, Section 102 “Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012” was signed into Law. It amended title 38, United States Code, to furnish hospital care, medical services, and nursing home care to veterans who were stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, while the water was contaminated at Camp Lejeune. Modifications to processes and systems are required to ensure Veterans are appropriately identified throughout the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Successful completion of this project will allow VA to a) ensure Camp Lejeune conditions are included in all VistA related applications and provide treatment status for Camp Lejeune veterans; b) ensure correct enrollment and related benefits for Camp Lejeune veterans; c) provide storage capacity within the Administrative Data Repository (ADR) for the needed enrollment records and Camp LeJeune data fields; and d) ensure appropriate billing and reporting for veterans receiving care related to the Camp LeJeune.
