VA is transitioning the provision of pharmacy drug interaction information in its VistA EHR from an open source data set to an API to a proprietary closed data source. VistA implementers outside VA may wish to consider open source alternatives. There are several publicly published sources that could provide information, but the quality and attributes of each would need to be evaluated against the current VistA National Drug File (NDF).
